Kristie N. Anderson, MSN, RN, CPNP Kristie Anderson received her Associate's degree in nursing from Western Piedmont in 1995, her Bachelors of Science in nursing from UNCG in 2004, and her Masters of Nursing from State University of New York in 2008. She is certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. She is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. Prior to beginning practice as a Nurse Practitioner, Kristie had been an employee of Mountain View Pediatrics for the previous 18 years. She is married and has three children. |

Ivan Carrion, M.D. Dr. Carrion is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico and the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. He received his pediatric training at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. He served as Chief of Pediatrics in Lyster Army Hospital. He has been in pediatric practice in Burke County since 1987. He is certified by the Academy of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. |

Christopher R. Clapp, M.D. Dr. Clapp is a graduate of Appalachian State University and a 1994 graduate of the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He completed his internship in Pediatrics at Naval Medical Center San Diego. He then served as a general practitioner with the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, California before returning to San Diego to complete his pediatric residency in 1999. Dr. Clapp was then stationed at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served as a general pediatrician and was medical director of the newborn nursery. He left the Navy to return to Western North Carolina and joined Mountain View Pediatrics in 2001. Dr. Clapp is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. |

Michael B. Gonzalez, M.D. Dr. Gonzalez is a graduate of North Carolina State University and Eastern Virginia Medical School. He joined Mountain View Pediatrics in 2003 after completing his pediatric residency at University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Palmetto-Richland Memorial Hospital. His wife, Anne, is a Family Practice physician at A Women's View in Hickory. They have two children, Sydney and Bryan. Dr. Gonzalez is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. |

Donnell R. Mace, FNP-C Donnell “Doni” Mace is a native of Morganton. She is married to Matthew Mace and they have a daughter, Ashley and a son, Andrew. She initially completed her associate’s degree in nursing from Catawba Valley Community College in 1993. Later in her nursing career, she completed her bachelor degree in nursing from Winston-Salem State University and then transferred to Duke University’s Family Nurse Practitioner program where she received her master’s degree in nursing in 2005. Doni is certified as a North Carolina Family Nurse Practitioner. |

Rudy T. Medina, M.D. Dr. Medina is a board certified pediatrician and a graduate of the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of California Irvine Medical Center in 1991. He was in private practice with Riverside Medical Clinic prior to relocating to North Carolina in 1997. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. |

Brenda Strand, MSN, RN, CPNP Brenda Strand received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 1985 and her Master of Nursing from University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver in 1999. She is certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. Prior to joining Mountain View Pediatrics she served 20 years in the Air Force in various roles as a registered nurse and nurse practitioner. After her military retirement she transitioned into the civilian pediatric practice arena. She arrives to us in 2009 from the panhandle of Florida with her husband and three children. Hobbies include horseback riding, reading and hiking. |

John F. Whalley, M.D. Dr. Whalley is a graduate of Wake Forest University and the Bowman Gray School of Medicine. He served his pediatric residency at the University of Kentucky and was a Neonatology Fellow at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, New York. He was in private practice at the Lexington Clinic, Lexington, Kentucky for 6 years before moving to Burke County in 1982. He is a preceptor for medical and nursing students and serves on the Board of Directors for North Carolina Access Care. He is a member of the First Baptist Church, Morganton. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. |
